Another hobby (sort of)

I knit. I learned about 10 years ago while I was at university. The very first thing I knit was a scarf. Actually, I don’t think you can really call it a scarf, unless you call it a REALLY BIG scarf. Or a thin blanket. My mom used it as a shawl to keep her shoulders and back warm during a figure skating event she had tickets to. Although I did use it as a scarf once. I had it wrapped around my neck and head for the 30 min walk in -30 weather (no really – and it was only up hill the one way, and a gentle incline at that). My head was toasty warm! Although there was quite the build up of frost from my breath.

I knit this blanket for Kirra. I chose the colour even after I knew she would be a girl, I just thought it was a beautiful colour and the wool is oh so soft. Originally it was going to be a sweater, but I thought ‘She’s going to outgrow a sweater in a few months – but a blanket is forever!’

I keep thinking I should knit something else, then I remember I’m in the middle of knitting a hat. That I started when I was pregnant. So it’s been a work in progress for a year and a half. Oops! I won’t let myself start a new project until I’ve finished this one. It’s called a January Hat, so I guess I’d better finish it in January!

Sunday night delight

When I was a kid, Sunday night was always Ice Cream Night. So now it’s just not Sunday without ice cream 🙂

Plus it helps the ‘Going back to work blues’ LOL

Now doesn’t that look deliciously decadent?

(p.s. – It was totally delicious *drool*)

Meowsie was NOT amused

Daryn decided to toss the kitty into the newly fallen snowbank. This picture is about a second after she was tossed in and about a second before she ran back into the house.

Taking a break while we dig ourselves out

Winter has officially arrived.  With a vengeance!  There is snow, snow and more snow (pictures to follow).  Not that I’m complaining, it’s January in Edmonton, so it’s not really surprising!  It does make me happy that I now have a vehicle with AWD.  My poor little Focus would have had a heck of a time with the snowdrifts, especially getting in and out of the garage in the back alley :S

This last week was also my first full week back and Kirra’s first full week at day care. How did it go? Besides the cold she caught at day care last week, not too bad. I think we’re starting to get a routine going and I do love those smiles when I pick her up at the end of the day!

But with being back at work, and having much less time than before, I really don’t know what’s going to become of this blog. I want to keep it up, I do enjoy taking pictures and sharing them with you, I just don’t know if I can continue with the daily picture 😦 When I threw down the gauntlet back in August, my life was very different then it is now, and I had a lot more time to take picture. My problem with continuing the daily picture is I’m worried it will take the fun out of it. I don’t want it to become a chore, I want it to stay fun 🙂

So here’s what I propose:
No more daily picture. Instead, I will try to switch to more of an illustrated narrative. I may still post some single photos, just for fun 🙂 As you can see, I’m not really sure what the final outcome will be yet. So bear with me while I play around with this site!

And as always, feel free to let me know what you think 🙂
